Personalised treatment options for optimal health and wellbeing.

Conditions we treat.

We specialise in the individual approach to Women’s Health and wellbeing. As GP’s with additional training in root cause approaches, bioidentical and hormone treatment, we offer a private service to provide a personalised approach to all manner of Women’s health issues.

We do not offer an emergency service, or care for pregnancy related conditions.

  • The peri-menopause and menopause can be a challenging time for many women. It marks the end of our the time in our life when we have periods and as a result of this there are significant hormonal changes which can manifest in a wide range of symptoms.

We offer medical support for HRT, bio-identicals, supplements and medications and additionally nutrition input, specialist herbal prescriptions or lifestyle modifications. We help guide you through this time of change and uncertainty

  • PCOS is a complex syndrome that requires a specialised approach to identify the underlying root cause. By working with our team and expertise, we help to address aspects of your lifestyle to make long lasting changes to see this condition into remission, improve your symptoms and therefore increase your chances of natural conception; as well as reducing the risk of developing metabolic problems such as diabetes in later life.

  • Endometriosis is a complex, chronic and often painful condition that has been very poorly understood, represented and managed within the conventional medical world. Working with us you have the benefit of working with our specialist team including holistic doctors who have a very deep understanding of all the key elements involved in the disease process.

Together we will identify the key drivers behind your endo and work together with you to make sustainable long term changes to optimise your health and wellbeing.

  • Cycle related mood problems, as well as issues such as acne, fatigue, low libido and migraines can all indicate hormonal imbalances. There can be many reasons for this and working in an integrated and holistic manner we can assess the likely causes and work together to restore your cycles and gain control over your hormones and life.

  • Modern day living does not allow for much down time. Many of us run around in a state of fight or flight, with phones and emails chasing our heels. Fatigue is common, and is usually a warning sign that we need to slow down.

Our bodies are complex, and like a finely tuned motor can go wrong at any point. Unfortunately, conventional medicine rarely allows enough time to explore the many reasons someone might be experiencing fatigue. Functional Medicine, on the other hand, uses an extensive personal history to look at a patient’s patterns over his or her entire lifetime and connect the dots.

Factors such as lifestyle, sleep, diet, exercise, stress, gut health, chronic infections, environmental toxins, hormones, and more can influence energy levels.

We can help support you to address the root cause of fatigue through personalised testing. Our aim is to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and energy through supporting sleep, gut health, hormones, mitochondria and adrenal function, whilst addressing any dysfunction.

  • Symptoms such as tiredness, weight gain, irregular or heavy periods can all be associated with Thyroid dysfunction . Unfortunately conventional Thyroid testing is now very limited yet the thyroid is intricately linked with our sex and stress hormones.

We can assess your thyroid function, treat accordingly if needed and work with our team to naturally optimise and preserve Thyroid function via adaptations to our nutrition and lifestyle.

  • Are you considering pregnancy or struggling to fall pregnant? Have you suffered miscarriages and wish to take control of your health to optimise your fertility? We can help support you along this journey to maximise your chances of natural conception.

We do not offer IVF but we can offer highly knowledgeable and professional advice to help seek any potential underlying causes that may be impacting your fertility and work with our team to naturally address these to offer greater chances of success.

  • As we approach the 3 year mark since the pandemic began we are thankfully seeing less new cases of ‘Long Covid’, but unfortunately this disabling condition still affects over 1.5 million people in the UK. We know that Long Covid is a multi-systems disease that commonly affects the mitochondria, gut, endocrine system including sex hormones and adrenal hormones, autonomic nervous system, lungs, heart and small nerve fibres. For many people, lives have been changed beyond recognition. Previously healthy and fit individuals have been floored by this virus and many have struggled to find effective help and support.

Common symptoms include post viral fatigue, breathlessness, chest pain, headaches, exercise intolerance, neurological issues and brain fog. There a many hypotheses as to contributing factors including mast cell activation/ histamine intolerance, dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system, inflammation of specific organs, micro – clots and poor perfusion of the blood capillaries, mitochondrial dysfunction and HPA axis dysfunction.

Dr Tanya recovered from a relatively mild case of Covid in March 2020 but experienced a prolonged post viral illness and protracted recovery. Her personal experience of Long Covid and the challenges she experienced in her recovery has helped her support others in their own journey to recovery.

Appointments.

We believe in empowering your journey to optimal health and wellbeing by treating you as an individual and helping you to understand your body and the array of choices available to you. We offer a wealth of experience and knowledge. Being GP’s we understand the benefits and limitations of the NHS and with additional training have the opportunity to provide a whole person, root cause and personalised approach.

We primarily offer online consultations but can offer face to face consultations for those living local to Sussex. We may need to ask about some characteristics such as whether you have any accessibility issues and also what GP surgery you are registered with. Private care does not aim to superseed your NHS GP care and therefore we strongly recommend you remain registered with an NHS practice.

Women’s Health Initial Assessment.

In this 60 minute appointment, you will have the opportunity to discuss your health concerns fully and tell us about all aspects of your health and wellbeing. This is our opportunity to get to know you and understand all the reasons that bring you to BiOrigin.

You will be asked to complete a questionnaire before your appointment to help us gather some essential information as we do not have access to your NHS records. This helps make your initial appointment more time efficient.

We aim to be able to help you understand the cause of your symptoms and help to find the most suitable approach to resolving this with you. This is where our understanding of both convention, complimentary, bespoke bioidentical hormone treatments and functional medicine come into their own.

We may recommend specialised laboratory testing according to your needs. You will be provided with a written health plan with practical tools to take away. For some people we may recommend; specialised laboratory testing, lifestyle modifications, as well as supplements where deemed relevant or necessary. Where appropriate, hormone replacement therapy is usually prescribed after initial testing at your follow up appointment. We may recommend working with a nutritionist and/ or health coach to get the best outcomes for you.

Your health report will be sent to you following your consultation, for your information. It is recommended that a copy of this is given to your GP, but is not an instruction to the NHS.

Please see below for the extra tests that we sometimes recommend. Further consultations will be required to review these results.

The cost of your prescription will be paid directly to the pharmacy.

    • 30 mins of Dr time to review intake questionnaires

    • 60 minute appointment time together to understand your health concerns, create a plan, initiate testing and/or treatment.

    • 60-90 minutes of Dr time writing health plan including actionable tips on lifestyle, nutrition and where appropriate supplement recommendations.

    • Written communication with your GP

We generally advise a 45- 60 minute appointment for the initial follow up, and thereafter 30-45 minute follow up appointments ( according to the number of test results and individual needs).

“I contacted the team at the beginning of 2022 following peri-menopause symptoms. We spent time discussing my symptoms and how I felt, and then underwent testing to determine exactly what was going on from a physical and physiological point of view, before agreeing a course of action. I feel significantly better now, and really value working with a private doctor who has the time to focus on me and create a bespoke, personalised plan that gets my energy, mood and motivation back as quickly as possible.”
